Khecheopalri Lake is a sacred lake. It is also known as wishing lake. According to folklore, one day the deity Goddess Tara Jestum Dolma appeared in front of a monk and asked him to fill a vessel from the lake and assured to guide him. Submissively the monk did what he was told and the guidance brought him to the Khecheopalri Hill. There he was told to pray and pour the water from the vessel in the shallow lake after which, the lake magically filled and today is known as the Khecheopalri Lake.
The Kanchenjunga Falls and the Sangay Waterfalls are two good attractions you can visit on relatively freer days. An added advantage is the unspoilt surroundings of these waterfalls.
Pemayangse monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Pelling. It was specially built for the pure celibate & physically for sound monks & the lamas was resrved the honour of anointing and crowning the chhogyals during the time of the monarchy rule.
About 12kms away from Pelling and about 5kms further down from Darap village is Rimbi River Bank which falls on the way to Khecheopalri and Yuksam where the main attractions are the river, water falls, oldest Hydel power station, Sewaro rock garden and the village.

Rabdentse is the 16th former capital of Sikkim and now lies in ruins. It was destroyed after the Nepalese invasion in the 18th century. Located close to the Pemayangtse Monastery, the ruins offer superb views of the Kanchenjunga Range.
